The International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08) is a system for classifying and summarizing information on occupational employment derived from statistical censuses and surveys and from administrative resources. It is a new version of and replaces the 1988 International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-88).
ISCO-08 aims to facilitate international comparisons of employment. In a labor force survey, the classification of occupations is used to code data on occupation groups in main and secondary jobs and to generate the corresponding statistical information.
