- Informal Employment
Informal employment comprises the total number of informal jobs whether carried out in formal sector enterprises, informal sector enterprises, or households, during a given reference period.
Informal employment includes the following types of jobs:
- (i) own-account workers employed in their own informal sector enterprises;
- (ii) employers employed in their own informal sector enterprises;
- (ii) contributing family workers, irrespective of whether they work in formal or informal sector enterprises ;
- (iv) members of informal producers’ cooperatives;
- (v) employees holding informal jobs in formal sector enterprises, informal sector enterprises, or as paid domestic workers employed by households;
- (vi) own-account workers engaged in the production of goods exclusively for own final use by their household, if considered employed according to paragraph 9(6) of the Resolution concerning statistics of the economically active population, employment, unemployment and underemployment adopted by the 13th ICLS.
Informal employment outside the informal sector comprises the following types of jobs:
- (i) employees holding informal jobs in formal sector enterprises or as paid domestic workers employed by households;
- (ii) contributing family workers working in formal sector enterprises;
- (iii) own-account workers engaged in the production of goods exclusively for own final use by their household, if considered employed according to paragraph 9(6) of the Resolution concerning statistics of the economically active population, employment, unemployment and underemployment adopted by the 13th ICLS.
